Hi, I’m Emily—the photographer and writer behind Odisea, a photography-led publication devoted to the stories of place. After more than 20 years in marketing, I began reshaping my life around travel, creativity, and a deeper connection to the world. A trip to Spain (and Portugal) in 2023 planted the first seed, and since then I’ve been rediscovering photography, returning to writing, and following a persistent pull toward living more intentionally within the places I inhabit.

Becoming Jane

Who am I becoming? I find myself asking this on the cusp of entering 2026, standing at the threshold of a new chapter. I wrote the first lines of this piece late at night, aware of time in a way that felt both grounding and unsettling—not as certainty, but as the sense that something was ending, and something else was beginning. I’ve had the title Becoming Jane in my head since Jane Goodall passed last year, and I don’t really know why.
